Molecular gas dynamics around nuclei of galaxies

چکیده
Recent molecular line observations with ALMA in several nearby Seyferts have revealed the existence of tori, and nature gas flows at 10-20 pc scale. At 100 scale, or kpc-scale, previous NOEMA work on gravitational torques had shown that only about one third Seyfert galaxies experienced inflow central fueling, while most cases was stalled rings. higher resolution, i.e. it is possible now to see some AGN fueling due nuclear trailing spirals, influenced by black hole potential. This brings smoking gun evidence for fueling. In our sample galaxies, angular resolution up 60 mas allows us reach (BH) sphere influence BH mass can be derived more directly than M-sigma relation.

Molecular Gas in Galaxies
Knowledge of the molecular component of the ISM is fundamental to understand star formation. The H2 component appears to dominate the gas mass in the inner parts of galaxies, while the HI component dominates in the outer parts. Observation of the CO and other lines in normal and starburst galaxies have questioned the CO-to-H2 conversion factor, and detection of CO in dwarfs have shown how sensi...
متن کاملExtended Hot Gas Halos Around Starburst Galaxies
Reanalysis of Einstein IPC data and new observations from the GINGA LAC indicate the presence of extended X-ray emission (10-50 kpc) around the starburst galaxy M82. Here we model this emission by calculating numerical hydrodynamic simulations of the starburst event to much later times and larger scales than previously considered. For our models, we adopt a supernova rate of 0.1 yr, and an exte...
متن کاملMolecular Gas in Galactic Nuclei
Dense molecular clouds are critical to the activity occurring in galactic nuclei. They are the active component from which starbursts arise, and this dense interstellar gas may be the fuel for AGNs. In both the nearby infrared bright galaxies (eg. M82, NGC 253, and IC342) and the ultralu-minous IRAS galaxies, high resolution millimeter line mapping has shown extremely high gas surface densities...
متن کاملMolecular Hydrogen Excitation around Active Galactic Nuclei
We report R ∼ 3000 Very Large Telescope ISAAC K-band spectroscopy of the nuclei (i.e. central 100–300pc) of nine galaxies hosting an active galactic nucleus. For five of these we also present spectra of the circumnuclear region out to 1 kpc. We have measured a number of molecular hydrogen lines in the ν = 1−0, 2−1, and 3−2 vibrational transitions, as well as the Brγ and He i recombination lines...
متن کاملMolecular gas in compact galaxies
New observations of eleven compact galaxies in the 12 CO J = 2 − 1 and J = 3 − 2 transitions are presented. From these observations and literature data accurate line ratios in matched beams have been constructed, allowing the modelling of physical parameters. Matching a single gas component to observed line ratios tends to produce physically unrealistic results, and is often not possible at all...
